Did You Forget Your Freebies?

Thought you might enjoy seeing the two different freebie textures posted Friday, applied to one photo.  Here is the photograph I decided to use to demonstrate some of the effects possible with each texture:

The first texture I will add to this photograph is "PDPA Blue Me Away".  Here's what we got:

To achieve this somewhat painterly look in PSE, I took the following steps:

Applied texture to photograph.
Used Overlay Blend Mode - Opacity 100%
Used a Layer Mask to remove most of texture from flower head.
Flattened layers.  Duplicated Layer.
Filter>Dry Brush - reducing opacity of dry brush effect to 37%

I then applied the other freebie in this post, "PDPA Ma Belle" to the same photograph.  HOWEVER, I decided to have a little fun.  While I love giving soft, romantic or faded vintage looks to photographs, I just can't do that every time when there are so many other fabulous options.  Here's what I came up with:

To achieve this look after applying the texture it was blended in Difference blend mode with an opacity of 90%.  I then went to Filter>Poster Edges and reduced the effect of the poster edges by changing the opacity to 29%.  I did a Levels Adjustment - bumping up the black to 17 and moved the Output slider to 20 to desaturate a bit.  Eh voila!

While this vivid, more abstract look may not be to everyone's taste, it does give you a feel for other looks you can achieve with textures.  I hope you will experiment with these two new textures and send me a link to show off your work.  I always do my best to comment.

So just scroll down.  Two free textures await you!
