Stay Safe And Secure!

Hi Everyone.

First let me thank all of you for your inspiring contributions to Photo Art Friday.  The theme 'derelict' seemed to please many of you - and the variety of artistic interpretations were wonderful.

While you can post any piece of photo art you please, this coming PAF's optional theme is to use the background/texture Cobblestone Road.  You can download it here.

If you are in the path of Hurricane Sandy I hope your preparations are complete and that you and yours remain safe and secure for the duration.  Looks like it may extend its tentacles all the way up into our area, but the effects will be nothing compared to what many of you in coastal areas are already experiencing.

Here are a couple of recent photographs of good weather and fall colours.  After Sandy wreaks her havoc, there will probably be no leaves left on the trees in the North East.  Enjoy:

Speaking of being 'secure'.  I just discovered that zipped texture sets I store on Mediafire and sell in my Texture Sets Shoppe have been accessed without permission and downloaded over one hundred times.  I store most of my textures sets that are for sale on e-junkie, but recently put three of my 'for purchase' sets on Mediafire.  I assumed because I have to log in to Mediafire with e-mail and password that no one else could access my files there.  Guess I am both ignorant and naive.  Now I see that each file can be password protected (and I have done that) ... I just never expected that my work prepared for sale would be stolen right out from under me!

I am working at accepting what is (what choice does one have?) and am aware of my disappointment and slight sense of violation.  I recall that a while back Jerry Jones from Shadowhouse Creations posted that a couple of people had downloaded his free textures sets, repackaged them and were selling them as if they were their own products!  Are there charlatans lurking about everywhere on the Internet?

Anyway - I'm sharing this as a cautionary note to any of you who are selling or considering selling digital products.  It seems they are so easy to steal and that there are people out there on the prowl for any opportunity.

I'm trying.   :)

  1. Good luck and stay safe! I've heard of lots of people having issues with MediaFire for this reason, or similar reasons.

  2. How disappointing that we can't assume honesty in the people we share our world with. I am sorry you had to go through this, but now you know and you can take better measures to protect and provide for the safe keeping of your treasures. My husband trusts no one on the Internet and accuses me of being too trusting. He is probably right, but I want to hope he is not ... as I am sure you would too. Is it that dishonesty is just more blatant in today's world or has is really changed for the worse. I worry about where we are going ... it doesn't look promising to me. Be well Bonnie, lesson learned, move on ... you deserve better.

  3. It seems that there are unscrupulous people lurking everywhere to make a little money on other people's skills and abilities. Sorry that it happened to you but you nixed that. Wonderful. Valerie

  4. I'm so sorry to hear that your work was stolen. In this day of technology, you hear more of this happening. It makes you wonder, "don't you have something better to do!" I suppose it's hard for us "honest" people to understand. I'm glad you're able to protect your hard work. Thanks so much for your wonderful talent and the fact that you choose to give so freely of your work.

    Bright blessings,

  5. So sorry to hear about someone steeling your textures. I am very naive about that also. Someone suggest putting copywrights on the photos I post...they are smaller images. I love what you do, hope this does not stop your creativity. Thanks for the visit and well wishes.

  6. Well that truly sucks and I would feel violated too!!

  7. It seems that there are dishonest people everywhere. (sigh) I'm pretty naive about the internet too, there is so much of it that I don't understand. LOL!!
I love your fall foilage pictures and thank you for offering your textures for sale and the free downloads, I have some of both! :)

  8. Bonnie, I'm so sorry that your textures were incredibly disheartening. :/ I'm glad you discovered what was happening and created safeguards to prevent it from happening again. Thank you for the free texture - I will download it and see what I can come up with for this week's PAF. Your fall foliage photos are beautiful! I'm afraid you're right - this storm has taken away the peak gorgeousness that was here just 24 hours ago...

  9. Bonnie, so many of us are enjoying the benefits of your free textures. So very sad that people will take advantage of what is not theirs to use. No integrity! Be safe and I look forward to Friday. Lovely photos!

  10. Nice words Bonnie but easier said than done. Fuming for you - it's exhausting having to know the minutiae of how to stay safe in the virtual world. Sad to hear that you have lost this revenue but in broader terms, the world is not a safe place either. Worse things happnen - and Sandy is a good reminder. See you down the cobblestone road.

  11. Bonnie, I can only imagine how frustrated and violated you must feel! Hopefully its safegaurded and won't happen again. I really don't know how people that live such a dishonest life can sleep at night? Your such a kind person and I really appreciate the beautiful textures you give. Your art is so beautiful and you have truly brought out that creative side out of me! Thanks Again:)

  12. Bonnie, I can only imagine how frustrated and violated you must feel! Hopefully your safeguarded now and it won't happen again. I really can't understand how dishonest people sleep at night? Your such a kind person and I appreciate all the free textures. Your beautiful art work has truly brought the creative side out of me, and just at the right time in my life! Thanks Again:)
